Our strategy has been manifold but consists in the main on getting them linked from quality like-minded sites (such as AICOL and Great Value Holidays) and increasing the amount of search engine focused content on their site. We changed some of the existing content on the site but by and large left it as is because it was already a good website with a sharp SEO focus.

Early results were very good. For our main search terms we jumped from page five to page two. Such good early results are often experienced when some tweaks to the content and structure pay quick dividends, leaping us over the other poorly designed websites that should not have been in front of us to begin with. Now the real work begins.

Sadly, being on page two of Google is about as good as being on page five. There’s only one place to be and that’s page one, and with this industry there is already a competitive well-designed bunch of websites at the top. That needn’t deter us though. Now we dig in and do what we know and do so well, add quality SEO focused content, keep adding content and more content, and allow that content to do the work. There are many (many many) theories about what works for Google rankings but there is nothing surer than the effect of quality SEO focused content. Pogo will keep updating Black Label’s blog, keep using the search engine keywords, and will eventually overcome the somewhat stiff opposition in this industry.

It’s likely we’ll sacrifice certain keyword terms in the short-term to grow our strength in others. For instance, we may lose ground in the Brisbane market to consolidate the Gold Coast market. That needn’t worry us because once we have grown the over-all strength of the website and grown our strength for the “airport transfers” search engine keywords growing the Brisbane keyword will be an easy adjunct to what we’ve already done.

SEO work can be an interesting cat-and-mouse game. The important thing is to chart long-term growth and we’re looking forward to reporting back to you soon with more encouraging results for Black Label Transfers.

Needing surprisingly little help or supervision Amy has completed the project for Gorgous Skin Retreat, being responsibly for most of the design and implementation of the website.

The results speak for themselves and we congratulate Amy on the wonderful job she’s done for Gorgous.

Gorgous is a Gold Coast beauty and massages centre located in Chirn Park. Working with Georgia on her website was a charm. She liked most of what we did, gave direction where appropriate and kept her enthusiasm the whole way. We came into contact with Georgia through my wife who uses her services. Knowing how fussy my wife can be it’s easy for us to recommend Gorgous to anyone. Please check out the website. (PS: We also recommend Pogo website services for anyone wanting an A-one beaut website!)

For Creative Timber Floors we re-wrote the text, used H1, H2 and H3 tags, alt tags, renamed pictures and wrote up the meta data. Our brief was to spend 3hrs on it so within this time budget we have done what we could.

It would be great to have a better budget for this project because the floor sanding and polishing keywords don’t have a lot of competition in Google but it’s important to work within the constraints you’re given and we’re confident that these measures will have a decent impact on Creative’s Google results.

The other thing Pogo can do to help is to link Creative Timber from an existing website that is strong enough to provide a good linking partner for Google to recognise. Something like a blog article like this one would do the trick…

Black Label Transfers are a local Gold Coast company who do airport transfers from Brisbane and Gold Coast airports to locations in the Gold Coast and Byron Bay region.

As part of their web marketing strategy Pogo are creating for Black Label a series of SEO focussed websites. The first, Gold Coast Brisbane Airport Transfers, is just about ready to roll. The website is highly SEO focused around the search terms “Gold Coast airport transfers” and “Brisbane airport transfers”. The airport transfer sector is a busy and tightly fought over piece of marketing space but Pogo hopes to make significant inroads into this space for Black Label Transfers.

It’s not quite finished yet but it is live. No 1 @ Evergreen is a Gold Coast fashion boutique and cafe located on the corner of Ashmore and Bermuda in Bundall. Their existing website reflected poorly on what a lively and diverse shopping experience was available at No 1 @ Evergreen and so they commissioned Pogo to revamp the site.

The site is mainly slider based, allowing for a highly visual and interactive experience for the website visitor. By providing visual clues the website allows you to visit the site in a somewhat random way, just like the experience of shopping where you’re drawn from one thing to another as your interest is piqued by each in turn. The website aims to leave visitors with a taste for Evergreen. We aim to whet the appetite and pique interest so that website visitors become shop visitors.

For us it was an interesting and involving experience making this website. Being mainly a visual experience, much of the SEO work is hidden from plain view. In some ways it was very liberating website to make. It allowed us to provide the user with a very open experience to the site. Good websites allow the user to determine how they access the information in that site but normally they gently guide in one direction or another. In this site we’re really throwing open the doors and letting the visitors wander around.

The site isn’t quite finished yet so please come back to visit it during the week. We believe in speedy projects here at Pogo and this one will be all wrapped up by weeks’ end.

Pogo have been working in conjunction with AICOL to transform their existing website into websites in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Portuguese and Arabic. The significant challenges presented by working in a foreign language have made for interesting times but we’ve been resourceful and creative and we’ve had the language resources of the English school at our disposal.

The bulk of the websites are getting a fully functional and translated front page only. Sub-pages are merely links to AICOL’s existing website that are linked via a Google Translate service. The pages are rendered in the required language and become part of the cache (so they’re open for Google indexing). We have relied heavily on Google translations for the websites but we have also had the aid of native speakers. A language like Japanese does not translate very well via online translation services so it will get a complete translation.

Some have asked, since the existing English website can translate and cache in foreign languages, why do we need to create translated websites? The answer is, it’s mostly for the SEO benefits of having a website hosted in that country and in that country’s language. These are important markets for AICOL and relying on a Google Translate version is not good enough. Some of these countries (such as China) do not have search engines usage dominated by Google and there are advantages to being locally hosted in the local language that make the exercise worth the effort.

We’re not finished yet but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. There is no doubt that working on six translations at once has been doing our heads in at times but we’ve got considerable momentum at the moment and will have the sites hosted and functioning quite soon.
